Othrfund has expanded into the United States after 18 months of lending activity across Europe.

The London-based business has seen rising demand from companies, advisers and fractional chief financial officers in the US. Its European activity has included the UK, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Spain and Poland.

Since August 2025, Othrfund has deployed more than £30 million across Europe. Over the next 12 months, it expects to deploy a further £50 million, with about half earmarked for businesses in the United States.

The company provides debt financing to growing businesses, focusing on companies with recurring or predictable revenues. It works across sectors including software, artificial intelligence, scale-ups and selected established small and medium-sized businesses.

Its model combines in-house underwriting with access to a network of institutional lenders. Through that structure, businesses can seek revenue-based financing, revolving facilities, growth debt, venture debt and working capital funding through one platform.

Its entry into the US market was driven by introductions from advisers, partners and fractional chief financial officers already working with the business in Europe. Those contacts increasingly referred American businesses seeking similar forms of financing.

"We are entrepreneurs, and we created the financing product we would have wanted ourselves: fast, transparent and designed around how growing businesses actually operate," said Cyril Schuster, chief executive officer of Othrfund.

"Companies should be able to access funding when they need it without taking on unnecessary complexity, personal guarantees or costs for capital they are not using," Schuster added.

Funding model

Othrfund supports established, revenue-generating businesses across a broad range of sectors. Its underwriting process combines financial and operational data, artificial intelligence-supported analysis and human credit assessment.

According to the company, that approach allows a relatively small underwriting team to review businesses quickly while maintaining a detailed view of each company. Indicative terms can be offered within 48 hours, with funds distributed in days.

Othrfund's products include Boost, an upfront capital facility for growth plans with fixed repayments; Flex, a pre-approved drawdown facility; and Connect, a route for businesses seeking more specialised funding arrangements through a network of lenders.

The platform links banking, accounting and revenue data as part of the application and assessment process. It supports integrations with accounting systems including Xero, QuickBooks, FreshBooks, Sage Accounting and Zoho, as well as revenue tools such as Stripe and Chargebee.

European base

The US expansion is the latest step in Othrfund's international growth, building on its European footprint. Headquartered in London, the company now works with businesses across the United Kingdom, Europe and the United States.

Its proposition centres on non-dilutive finance, allowing companies to raise capital without giving up equity. Its products are also structured without personal guarantees or board seats.

That focus places it in a part of the market serving founders and managers seeking alternatives to conventional bank lending or equity investment. Demand for such funding has increased in recent years as higher interest rates, tighter lending conditions and investor caution have made fundraising more difficult for many smaller businesses.

At the same time, advisers and outsourced finance executives have become an important channel for specialist lenders. Companies without large in-house finance teams often rely on external advisers to source debt options, compare terms and manage applications.

"The US expansion has really been a response to the market," said Benedetta Schiavi, chief operating officer of Othrfund.

"After seeing the model work across Europe, we increasingly started receiving introductions to US businesses looking for the same type of financing. Expanding there became the natural next step," Schiavi added.
